We built our Summer house on Lt's Island in Wellfleet in 2000. After two full summers we decided to check out the Wellfleet elementary school. There were 11 - 13 kids in a class. That sealed the deal and we never went back to our off Cape home in Wayland, MA. The kids have loved living by the tides and have enjoyed the "real" Cape Cod slower paced lifestyle. The Nauset school system was terrific. We are very proud of their accomplishments: Kara - an electrical engineer, who graduated from Notre Dame, lives in Brewster and is a Principal Product Manager at Toast. Joseph - a chemical engineer, who graduated from Manhattan College, lives in Chatham and is the head chef at the Nor'East Beer garden in Provincetown. James - started his own landscaping business on the Cape. (Scape Cod Landscaping) Kiley - also calls the Cape her home and is working as a landscaper on the Outer Cape. Even though my husband and I work long hours we feel like we have semi retired. We can just take a quick detour to the beach and the stress melts away. We enjoyed 20 years of the island life but in 2018, someone approached us and asked if we would sell our house. The time was right and we traded the Wellfleet island living for our new spot in Orleans. It offers a different, more year round feel and we love the convenience and have never looked back. We enjoy the National Seashore beaches, walking trails and are still finding new nooks and crannies to explore. We started with the summer house as a way to keep the kids coming home - it has worked!! We all love living the Cape Cod life.
